Day 1 Sail from Vancouver Today you will notice that your five-star vessel boasts fewer passengers, larger staterooms and more space than any other in Alaska. Day 2 Inside Passage scenic cruising Steep coastal mountains and marine wildlife will be the backdrop to a relaxing day at sea filled with exciting daily activities and elegant service. Day 3 Tracy Arm & twin Sawyer Glaciers scenic cruising; afternoon in Juneau Tracy Arm is home to the beautiful twin Sawyer Glaciers where spires of ice calve into the fjord with a thunderous splash. In Juneau, you’ll have the day to explore Mendenhall Glacier or go whale watching, fishing or even dogsledding on a glacier! Day 4 Skagway Disembark and meet your Tour Director and relive the Days of 1898. Learn the history and lore of the Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park on a two-hour tour. Then spend the rest of the day exploring. Day 5 Skagway/Whitehorse Follow in the footsteps of the stampeders as you board the nostalgic White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad and climb through some of Alaska’s most spectacular country. Then board a luxury motor coach and cross into Canada’s Yukon Territory. Today’s discussion by your driver and Tour Director will focus on the region’s natural and gold rush history. Arriving in Whitehorse, the capital of the Yukon, kick up your heels at the uproarious Frantic Follies Vaudeville Revue (included). Day 6 Whitehorse/Dawson City As you follow the Yukon River north, the poetry of Robert W. Service comes to life as you pass Lake Laberge. Today’s discussions will focus on native history and culture in the Yukon, as well as early exploration. After a stop for lunch in Minto (included) arrive in Dawson City. Overnight in the Klondike National Historic Site. Day 7 A Day in Dawson City or Tombstone Park There are two major excursion themes: Tombstone Park and the Klondike Gold Rush. Venture into an ancient land. At Tombstone Park, join local interpreters and explore marvels two billion years old where a full range of wildlife roams free. Those who stay in Dawson City can enjoy a tour of the gold fields made famous by the Klondike Gold Rush of 1898. Day 8 mv Yukon Queen II/Tok Cruise the Yukon River aboard our mv Yukon Queen II catamaran and hear tales of river pilots, mail carriers, Mounties and prospectors as you glide past the wide-open country that goes on forever. You’ll disembark in the Alaskan village of Eagle for a tour with a resident guide. Today’s onboard discussion en route to Tok will focus on gold mining and the local natural history. Day 9 Tok/Fairbanks The Alaska Highway travels the deep backcountry and offers views of the Alaska Range and the TransAlaska Pipeline. An exciting visit will be made at an authentic Alaskan Roadhouse as you sightsee to Fairbanks. Enjoy a hearty lunch at Gold Dredge No. 8, a National Historic Site. Then view the mining exhibits and pan for gold during your informative tour aboard the dredge. Overnight downtown. Day 10 Fairbanks/Denali National Park Today you’ll board the McKinley Explorer, the largest domed railcars on the historic Alaska Railroad route, an Alaska Scenic Byway. Sit back and relax in the observation lounge and watch magnificent scenery glide by. Upon arrival at the Denali National Park, transfer to your inviting lodge, the best at the park. After settling in to your room, get out and explore. Day 11 Denali National Park Your EXTRA DAY at Denali National Park begins with an early morning departure for the Denali Tundra Wilderness Tour. Enjoy 6-8 hours of narrated touring with a driver/guide as you travel 53 miles of the Park Road for great wildlife viewing. Caribou, moose, grizzly, wolves and Dall sheep are frequently sighted. And dramatic Mt. McKinley viewpoints are afforded from several lookouts including Stony Hill Overlook. Later return to your lodge to relax or take your choice of optional activities. Day 12 Denali/Anchorage After a morning at leisure reboard the McKinley Explorer to Anchorage. Transfer to your downtown hotel and say "good-bye" to your Tour Director.
