30 Top Alaska Cruises

When was the last time you saw a glacier gallop? As the largest valley glacier in Alaska, at 92 miles, Hubbard Glacier is a glorious behemoth of flowing ice that moves or gallops from its ice field source. Until you've seen and heard the thunderous road of ice sheets calving or crashing into the sea, it's safe to say you've never experienced anything like it.

There are few places left on earth that are as well preserved and as verdant as Alaska. Vast and lush, teeming with wildlife and carved by nature, it is an artist's and poet's paradise. There's so much to see and do. Try kayaking into the hidden inlets. Fly above the glaciers on a helicopter tour. Shop for art and other native treasures. Mountain bike or hike through rainforests. Fish forever. It's all here in Alaska for you and it's a once-in-a-lifetime celebration. You'll enjoy stunning vistas of snow-capped mountains, gleaming glaciers and the breathtaking wilderness with its wonderful wildlife. You'll marvel at the awesome grandeur of this incredible journey through the inside passage and across the Gulf of Alaska. This is the Great Land - the Last Frontier.

Alaska - The Wilderness Destination

Standing at the edge of a rainbow field of wildflowers, you admire nature’s quiet and epic majesty. Then, something stirs — a rustling in the brush as a huge moose rises from rest and wanders off. A moment like this could only happen in Alaska. Welcome to the Great Land.

You never forget them — the vivid impressions from your first visit to Alaska. A 10-story crystal-blue river of ice in Glacier Bay National Park, icebergs calving into the tidewater with a thunderous crack. The spectacular and untamed wildlife, from a nesting eagle high in a Sitka spruce to a family of brown bears foraging along a rocky beach. Your first glimpse of the soaring, silent magnificence of Mt. McKinley. It’s everything you ever imagined — and all you traveled so far to see. This is one of life’s greatest adventures. One you’ll want to plan carefully so you don’t miss a thing

Tips on Choosing Stateroom Location
Here's how to avoid picking a stateroom next to or near a noisy area, or where the motion or vibration of the ship may affect your rest.
  • Looking for a smooth ride?  The majority of a ship's weight is from the center to the back.  At the bow, the ship has to cut through the water. So, in bad weather if you are upfront, you are going to toss and turn more than others. Having a stateroom midship, may not be the smoothest ride.  The smoothest ride is about half way back from center, which is close to the true "center" point of  the ship. If you're all the way at the back you will experience some vibration from the ship's engines and propellers.  Also, some will tell you "the higher you are, the better the ride."   It's just the opposite... the lower you are, the smoother the ride. Swing a pencil like a pendulum and you will see what we mean.
  • Want an oceanview stateroom.  Oceanview can mean a porthole or two, a  picture window, floor-to-ceiling bay window or a private balcony with a sliding glass door.  The better the view, the higher the price.
  • Some staterooms are not worth it, no matter what the price.  Staterooms just below the disco, next to an elevator, under the jogging track, or under a lounge as examples, should be avoided.
