LOVE LETTERS
“My
wife and I just returned from Holland America's 7-day Western Caribbean
cruise on the ms Zaandam. The entire experience could best be
described as stellar. We have sailed on Cunard, Celebrity, Norwegian and
Royal Caribbean cruise lines. Now each time we embark on a new voyage, the
Zaandam and Holland America are what we envision a cruise
vacation to be.
“The artwork, fresh flowers and décor on board the ship made us feel like
we were on an ocean liner versus a cruise ship. The quality, variety,
taste and presentation of the food in the Rotterdam Dining Room, Pinnacle
Grill, buffet in the Lido Restaurant, and breakfast from room service
surpassed the afore-mentioned cruise lines.
“The crew and staff on board are phenomenal. They are the reason our
memory of the voyage is so positive. Their attention to detail, customer
service skills, grace under pressure and professionalism are to be
commended. My wife and I are both in the customer service industry. We
empathize, recognize, and when we receive it, appreciate genuine customer
service.”

“I wanted to
personally write and let you and the Holland America team on the Zaandam
know what a wonderful experience our recent cruise to Alaska was. We
booked this trip as a family to celebrate my mother’s 80th birthday. She
has always been a proponent of cruises, but for the rest of the family, it
was a first.
“We had the best time, best vacation, most relaxation and more fun than on
any other vacation in our past. The food was great—correction: the food
was fabulous. The rooms were spacious and cleaned twice a day. The
employees were polite and treated us like royalty. What a thrill to find
out the lounges all had different musicians and themes, from classic to
jazz and even country western. We danced, swam, played in the casino, had
quiet time in the library, saw a movie in the theater, and took in the
great live musicals and performances.
“Most importantly, we all had fun, and we had private breakaway times with
different family members to laugh, talk and reacquaint ourselves on the
importance of family and time together in an increasingly fast-paced
world. It is a memory each of us will have for the rest of our lives.
“Thank you and the Zaandam staff for making this trip such a success and
memorable time. And yes, we will be booking another cruise on Holland
America. Oh, and I should mention the scenery was incredible, we took over
400 pictures of glaciers, whales, seals, eagles, sunsets…and of course,
the family with big smiles on their faces.”

"My just-completed cruise on the
Volendam was absolutely wonderful. The Signature of Excellence
improvements in bedding are great, and the improvements in the quality of
cuisine in the Rotterdam Dining Room are very evident. I
understand that the menus are being reviewed and expanded as well. The
Neptune Lounge was excellent, and the atmosphere aboard the ship was
top-notch. An experienced cruiser can sense a "happy ship," and the
Volendam certainly does qualify in that regard. I've booked her again
for a May Alaska cruise just so I could be on board her again—she's very
much a second home to me!"
