Hermitage: St. Petersburg, Russia
The State Hermitage occupies six magnificent buildings along the
embankment of the River Neva in the heart of St. Petersburg. This unique
architectural ensemble is dominated by the Winter Palace, the residence of the
Russian czars that was built in the middle of the 18th century. Put together
over several centuries, the Hermitage collections of works of art (over
3,000,000 items) present the development of world culture and art from the Stone
Age to the 20th century.
Peggy Guggenheim Collection: Venice, Italy
Considered the most important museum in Italy for European and American art of
the first half of the 20th century, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection is located
in Peggy Guggenheim's former home, Palazzo Venier dei Leoni, on the
Grand Canal in Venice. Opened in 1951 by the niece of Solomon R Guggenheim,
wealthy American industrialist and art collector, the museum presents Peggy
Guggenheim's personal collection of 20th century art, masterpieces from the
Gianni Mattioli collection and the Nasher Sculpture Garden, as well as temporary
exhibitions.

Guggenheim Bilboa: Bilboa, Spain
Designed by American architect, Frank Gehry, in his distinctive style, this
swooping silver structure was constructed in the center of Bilbao. The building
is an extraordinary combination of interconnecting shapes of glass, titanium and
stone. While the Bilbao is home to a great collection that focuses on 20th- and
21st-century art, post-war masterpieces and commissioned site-specific work,
this spectacular structure stands as a massive sculpture in itself, set against
the backdrop of Bilboa.
Århus Art Museum: Arhus, Denmark
An exclusive Holland America Line cruise highlight, this unique museum is a
must–see for the art and the architecture. The building, square and unassuming
from the outside, has a surprising bright white interior with a spiral staircase
winding up the museum’s three floors. The permanent collection features
paintings ranging from the Danish Golden Age (1800-1850) to modern art,
including many multimedia installations. In the basement gallery, artists from
around the world exhibit their works of light and sound. And the roof-top
terrace offers panoramic views of the city.
