Daily Itinerary

Day 1 Anchorage

Your Tour Director will welcome you to Alaska! Transfer to your downtown hotel and browse in the nearby shops and museums.

Day 2 Anchorage/Denali National Park

Today you’ll board our McKinley Explorer, the largest domed railcars on the historic Alaska Railroad route, an Alaska Scenic Byway. Upon arrival at Denali National Park, transfer to the finest lodge and spend your afternoon at leisure.

Day 3 Denali National Park

Your EXTRA DAY at Denali National Park begins with an early morning departure for the Denali Tundra Wilderness Tour. Enjoy 6-8 hours of narrated touring with a driver-guide as you travel 53 miles of the Park Road for great wildlife viewing. Caribou, moose, grizzly, wolves and Dall sheep are frequently sighted. And dramatic Mt. McKinley viewpoints are afforded from several lookouts.

Day 4 Denali National Park/Fairbanks

This morning, relax over breakfast at your choice of eateries and browse the wildlife exhibits and souvenirs at the Gift Shop. Later, reboard the McKinley Explorer, en route to Fairbanks. Check into your downtown hotel and enjoy a relaxing night in Alaska’s second largest city.

Day 5 Fairbanks/Tok

Depart this morning for a tour including the TransAlaska Pipeline on your way to Gold Dredge No. 8. View the mining exhibits, pan for gold and then enjoy a hearty miner’s lunch in the authentic dining hall. The Alaska Highway travels the deep backcountry of Alaska. Today’s discussion by your driver and Tour Director will focus on life above the Arctic Circle and the local wildlife as you sightsee to Tok.

Day 6 mv Yukon Queen II/Dawson City

Travel the Taylor Highway to the Alaskan village of Eagle for a tour with a resident guide. You’ll embark our mv Yukon Queen II catamaran for a cruise up the Yukon River. Arrive this evening in Dawson City, Yukon Territory and the Klondike National Historic Site.

Day 7 A Day in Dawson City or Tombstone Park

There are two major excursion themes: Tombstone Park and the Klondike Gold Rush. At Tombstone Park, join local interpreters and explore marvels two billion years old. This remote region is the ancestral home of North America’s earliest peoples and a full range of wildlife roams free. Those who stay in Dawson City can enjoy a tour of the gold fields famous from the Rush of 1898.

Day 8 Dawson City/Whitehorse

Sightsee along the Klondike Highway past Five Finger Rapids on the Yukon River. Today’s discussion will focus on native history and culture in the Yukon, as well as early exploration. Arriving in Whitehorse, kick up your heels at the uproarious Frantic Follies Vaudeville Revue (included).

Day 9 Kluane National Park

This UNESCO World Heritage Site encompasses the second tallest mountain in North America — Mt. Logan — and numerous other titanic peaks. Designed exclusively for Holland America guests, local interpreters lead you on your choice of optional hikes from easy to strenuous. And all feature rich wildlife habitat and superb scenery.

Day 10 Whitehorse/Skagway

Today your driver and Tour Director will focus on the region’s natural and gold rush history. Board the nostalgic White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad and descend through Alaska’s most spectacular country. In Skagway you’ll have an afternoon to explore the Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park.

Day 11 Skagway/Sail

Say "good-bye" to your Tour Director and transfer to your Holland America cruise.

Day 12 Glacier Bay National Park cruising

Calving glaciers are the star features as you spend a full day exploring Alaska’s best glacial attraction, with a backdrop of 15,000-foot mountains. On board today will be a National Park Service ranger and a local Huna native storyteller to explain the significance of this protected wilderness.

Day 13 Ketchikan

Besides the main attractions – Creek Street, the Tongass Historical Museum, Totem Bight State Park and Saxman Village – there’s one other thing we highly recommend you do. A flightseeing trip to breathtaking Misty Fjords National Monument is essential.

Day 14 Inside Passage Cruising

Whether with a massage in the Greenhouse Spa, a cooking lesson in the Culinary Arts Center or a game of chance in the casino, you’ll discover exciting daily activities and elegant service.

Day 15 Disembark in Vancouver
