Daily Itinerary

Day 1 Sail from Vancouver

Your five-star vessel boasts fewer passengers, larger staterooms and more space than any other in Alaska. Today you will notice this refined elegance as you sail under the Lion’s Gate Bridge and enter the scenic wonders of the Inside Passage.

Day 2 Inside Passage scenic cruising

Steep coastal mountains and marine wildlife will be the backdrop to a relaxing day at sea. Whether with a massage in the Greenhouse Spa, a cooking lesson in the Culinary Arts Center or a game of chance in the casino, you’ll discover exciting daily activities and elegant service.

Day 3 Tracy Arm & twin Sawyer Glaciers scenic cruising; afternoon in Juneau

Tracy Arm is home to the beautiful twin Sawyer Glaciers where spires of ice calve into the fjord with a thunderous splash. In Juneau, you’ll have the day to explore Mendenhall Glacier or go whale watching, fishing or even dogsledding on a glacier!

Day 4 Skagway

Disembark and meet your Tour Director and relive the Days of 1898. Learn the history and lore of the Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park on a two-hour tour.

Day 5 Skagway/Whitehorse

Board the nostalgic White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad and climb through some of Alaska’s most spectacular country. Then travel via luxury motor coach into Canada’s Yukon Territory. Today’s discussion by your driver and Tour Director will focus on the region’s natural and gold rush history en route to Whitehorse, on the banks of the Yukon River.

Day 6 Kluane National Park

This UNESCO World Heritage Site encompasses the second tallest mountain in North America — Mt. Logan — and numerous other titanic peaks. The world’s largest non-polar ice field is a Kluane attraction best appreciated on a flightseeing excursion. Designed exclusively for Holland America guests, local interpreters lead you on your choice of hikes from easy to strenuous. And all feature rich wildlife habitat and superb scenery.

Day 7 Whitehorse/Beaver Creek

You’re off along the Alaska Highway past the peaks of the St. Elias Mountains and the sparkling waters of scenic Kluane Lake. Today’s discussion will focus on native history and culture in the Yukon as well as the history of the Alaska Highway. We welcome you to remote Beaver Creek, Canada’s westernmost settlement, with our famed Yukon Rendezvous Dinner Show (included).

Day 8 Beaver Creek/Fairbanks

Enjoy more sights along the Alaska Highway. Scenes of the Tetlin Wildlife Refuge blend with the distant peaks of the Wrangell Mountains. A pause at the famed Rika’s Roadhouse along the original wagon road echoes the past and offers tempting homemade pies. Today’s discussion will focus on gold mining and the local natural history. Arrive in Fairbanks for an overnight stay.

Day 9 Fairbanks

Start your adventure aboard the sternwheeler Discovery III for native culture, gold rush history, and local color. You’ll even meet Susan Butcher of Iditarod fame, or members of her family, and watch a bush pilot demonstration. At Gold Dredge No. 8, you’ll browse the mining exhibits and pan for gold during an informative tour.

Day 10 Fairbanks/Denali National Park

Today you’ll board the McKinley Explorer, the largest domed railcars on the historic Alaska Railroad route, an Alaska Scenic Byway. Sit back and relax in the observation lounge and watch magnificent scenery glide by. Upon arrival at the Denali National Park, transfer to your inviting lodge. After settling in to your room, get out and explore.

Day 11 Denali National Park

Your EXTRA DAY at Denali National Park begins with an early morning departure for the Denali Tundra Wilderness Tour. Enjoy 6-8 hours of narrated touring with a driver/guide as you travel 53 miles of the Park Road for great wildlife viewing. Caribou, moose, grizzly, wolves and Dall sheep are frequently sighted. And dramatic Mt. McKinley viewpoints are afforded from several lookouts. Later return to your lodge to relax or take your choice of optional activities.

Day 12 Denali/Anchorage

After a morning at leisure reboard the McKinley Explorer to Anchorage. Transfer to your downtown hotel and say "good-bye" to your Tour Director.

Day 13 Transfer to the Anchorage Airport. Tour Ends
