Singles Cruises: Matchmaking At Sea

Have you ever thought about taking a singles cruise, but felt that you are out of the usual age range? Think again. As long as you are over 18, there is a singles cruise for you. In fact, there are cruises designed for every age range in the book, where single people can get together and have fun . . . and maybe even meet the partner of their dreams.

Depending on the cruise, you might be able to take a trip with only other singles from your age group (usually a 10-20 year span) or a completely multi-age cruise where young and not so young mingle. Let 's take a look at what you can expect from each of these.

20-30 Singles Cruises
For this age group, there are often plenty of cruises available and full of fun activities. Because these singles are fairly young, most cruises consist of non-stop partying and may not be as serious as another age group. While this age range can certainly find a serious partner, it 's more likely that this is just going to be a fun time with the possibility of finding your match.

30-50 Singles Cruises
The majority of cruises for singles over 30 tend to be more planned out. Rather than non-stop dancing and all night bar rounds, you can expect to have more interesting games and activities to help you meet others in your age range. These cruises tend to be more about people than about just having fun. Even if you don't find that perfect someone, you can enjoy making some long lasting relationships on a singles cruise.

50+ Singles Cruises
These days, it really doesn't matter how old you are, there is a singles cruise for you. In fact, many people hit 50 and find that they are divorced and alone and are frightened about dating again. Joining up with a singles cruise for this age group can be a great way to meet other singles your age, without any pressure. There will be lots of scheduled events and activities to keep things interesting and lively and you will have the chance to interact with a variety of people and make new friends . . . but who knows, one of them may end up being more than just a friend!

Multi-age Singles Cruises
Not all singles cruises are divided up by age. While the majority of people will prefer to stick to their age group, there are still some cruises that take any age at all. These can be particularly good if you find yourself attracted to much younger or older partners, or if you just want to keep the playing field open. Age shouldn't be a big deal in romance and that is what these cruises focus on. They offer the opportunity to enjoy company of all ages in a number of different activities and fun settings that will free you up to chat with others and makes some friends while you keep an eye out for that special someone.

Whether you choose to take a singles cruise with a specific age range or one that pays no attention to numbers, you'll find yourself having a blast while enjoying the opportunity to meet other singles. There 's no stress about liking someone only to find out they are actually married, since everyone is here because they want to meet someone.

Hanging out with like minded singles on a cruise ship is all about having fun and meeting potential partners in a non-threatening situation. What could be more relaxing and romantic than a singles cruise?

Why Singles Go Cruising?

Singles are just about the most free creatures on earth. with no pending family responsibilities whatsoever (except perhaps for some school work and day jobs), these singles have little or almost nothing to worry about when it comes to planning on embarking on a cruise.

Having less thing to worry about with regards to family responsibility doesn't mean that singles are less stressed. In reality, singles may actually have more stress than most people because they are literally and figuratively at the top of their game.

They are not yet retiring, or have not yet tapered off to the more subdued lifestyle when married. Singles are like loose cannons, and they deserve to have some fun time and get their own breaks by means of going to cruises and refreshing vacations.

Being a single is all about possibilities. And cruises complement this particular stage of life. First, there is the excitement of meeting new people and gaining new friends.

At the very least, you might find useful contacts for your next business or get to meet someone possessing the job or the hairstyle or the kind of life that you have always wanted to have.

There is plenty of room for chitchat and exchanging of contact numbers in cruise settings. Besides, people tend to unleash their more adventurous facets when under vacation, and that has been scientifically proven.

There is also possibility of finding a romantic partner aboard a cruise. There is nothing more romantic than watching the sky and the waves converge while you are being swept off your feet by that long elusive prince charming. Cruises bring a variety of people together, and pairs may find themselves complementing each other 's lifestyles. The whole cruise itself entitles any swinging single an added sphere from which they could find their ideal romantic partner.

Since most single people are confined within the recesses of their work and neighborhood and usual hobbies, embarking in a cruise increases the chances of meeting people you wouldn't otherwise have met in your day-to-day activities. The matter of trust is to your discretion. But the thrill is definitely included for singles in every cruise package.

If you're more of the career-driven and ambitious type, you might find these cruises to be avenues for a birth of a new business. You might be in dire need of certain people with expertise you have no access to.

Since there is a variety of people in a cruise, you might find potential business contacts awaiting your proposal on the ship. A warning though: some people don't like discussing business matters while on vacation. So the best way would be just to get contact numbers and keep in touch after the cruise to discuss your business opportunities.

Cruises are good avenues for self-exploration and introspection. Most single people are surprisingly left with little time for themselves despite their singlehood. Embarking on a cruise, away from work and all the things a typical single is used to, one can find the cruise to be a good place to rethink life goals and quicken or slow down the pace of life. The relaxing ambience in the backdrop will definitely propel you to levels you might now have imagined.

Going to a cruise as a single is a unique experience in itself. You may find yourself in that same cruise with your husband in the future, but it will not be like your solo cruising experience. And clearly, embarking on a cruise for singles is truly adding up to a storehouse of experiences which will become part of your best memories.

Where a balcony cabin view becomes a front-row seat for one of the most breathtaking shows in nature.

Should I get an inside cabin, oceanview

or a balcony?

Balcony (aka Verandah) staterooms offer spectacular scenery from the comfort and privacy of your stateroom. These staterooms cost a lot more than the least expensive inside stateroom. You have to judge if stepping out onto your balcony, to enjoy an in-room breakfast or midnight snack while viewing the scenery, is worth it. So many people reserve a balcony, you will need to book early to get the choice balcony locations aboard ship. With an ocean-view stateroom, you get a large picture-sized window to view the great outdoors.

Cruise Secrets Revealed...

Did you Know?

Most cruise lines do not allow

travel agents to advertise prices lower than the cruise lines offer to those who book directly with the cruise line. However, some do allow travel agencies to discount by rebating part of the commissions, when dealing directly with a potential customer. If you are shopping the Internet for cruise prices, you're most likely going to find many travel sites quoting the same price. But, the price you're seeing on a travel agent's web site is not necessarily the best price that travel agency is able to offer you. To find out a travel agency's best price on a particular cruise, you should call them, or e-mail them a request for a price quote. Most travel agencies have toll-free phone numbers. Don't hesitate to call or email them-- you could save a lot!

"Marty, thanks for your help you made selecting this Alaska trip very easy with all the knowledge you shared.  You are everything the books say a travel agent should be."

"Hi Marty, Just got back from our cruisetour to Alaska on Princess. Everything was excellent. The hotels and the ship was rated tops by all in our party. The help with the 8 month old was fantastic and the excursions were great. Thanks for all of your help. We are looking forward to another cruise next year, possibly the Mediterranean and working with you. Thanks again."

CRUISE TIPS

Sponsored by Marriott International

We recommend arriving at the city of your port of embarkation one day prior to the day your ship sets sail. You may encounter during the winter months or at times of bad weather, or flight problems, an en-route delay on sailing day. Be sure to ask your Cruise Travel Advisor about custom air, and pre-cruise hotel packages. After all, you don't want to be waving goodbye on the pier as the ship sails out of port without you!

If you are flying on the same day as your cruise sets sail, plan to be at the pier for check-in at least  least 4 hours prior to the time the ship is scheduled to depart. Also, due to heighten security at the pier and at the airport, when planning your return flight home allow for several hours between the time you get off the ship and the time you need to board your flight home.  We suggest no earlier than 1:30PM for a flight home

FEATURED STORY

Discover A Travel Agent Online

The role of travel agents is pretty pivotal in deciding the best travel package out of dozens that are made available to you. While you plan your vacation, these travel agents do all of the homework on your behalf, in order to find out the best deal. Because these travel agents know so much, their relevance can't be ignored at all. And the whole travel industry relies upon them as they make traveling an experience to cherish.

But, in the world that is becoming more and more fast paced, everyone seems to be short of time. So, it seems a weary task to pay a visit to your local travel agent, sit with him or her and find the most suitable travel deals for you. Also, the deals that the travel agent offers you are no better than a few tourist destinations that have become stale and unimpressive. The customers of today have grown demanding in terms of finding the most scenic travel destinations around the world and most certainly, they are not able to find such tourist places with the average travel agent.

Come to the world wide web and you would observe an apparent revolution in the field of tourism industry. The Internet is brimming with discounted travel packages, cheap hotels, lodges, resorts, cruise deals and so on, in all the major and not so popular destinations around the world. All you have to do is to state your requirement and click the cursor. You will be introduced to an array of destinations, according to your budget. Plus, last minute cruise deals are also readily available on the Internet that are highly cost effective.

These deals are also available through the various comparison portals that allow you to compare the various travel packages to a particular location and list different packages that suit your budget and matches with the requirements of different people. It is always recommended to avail the travel deals through travel comparison shopping portals and select the most lucrative deal out of it.

READERs CRUISE TIPS

"I have been on about 12 cruises in the past 12 years and have always used an experienced cruise travel agent. I have never had any problems with any of my documents , air \ travel, etc. I highly recommend using a professional travel agent for your bookings. I would never consider it other wise."

"Before you leave home, make sure travel documents are in order. Check with air lines 24 hours prior to flying. Upon boarding ship, locate your state room, most ships have color-coded halls. Pink carpet denotes even number state rooms, blue color carpets will be odd numbers. With more than 50 cruises and mega ships, this is a time saver."

"I have been on 13 cruises. My suggestion is to plan on the second seating for your dinner time. This gives you more time on your daily tours, not to feel you have to rush to get ready. You can also take in a show or have a glass of wine prior to dinner if you feel the need to be kept busy. It is the most relaxing way to travel. My husband and I look forward to our next cruise together."
