Fun Things To Do On Our Cruise
Spend a week exploring
and discovering the many
splendors of the Western
Caribbean on this 7-day
cruise from Galveston,
Texas.
Cozumel
Cozumel just happens to
be perched atop a coral
reef, which promises hours
of snorkeling or scuba
diving fun. In Cozumel
explore San Miguel’s
seafront shops and the white
sand beach at Chankanaab
National Park. Drift among
star corals and sea fans on
a Cozumel diving excursion
or find ancient discoveries
at the nearby Mayan ruins.
Don't miss the
opportunity to explore the
ruins of the ancient Mayan
city of Tulúm, majestically
perched above the turquoise
Caribbean. The site was
occupied as far back as 600
A.D. However, it was most
densely populated around
1200 A.D. You will be struck
by the pyramid-shaped El
Castillo, which dominates
the city from atop a
forty-foot cliff. The nearby
Temple of the Descending God
provides equally excellent
insight into the
architecture of the Mayan
people, who gained
considerable achievements in
the arts and sciences, only
to decline and vanish for no
apparent reason.
Costa Maya
Beautiful and jam-packed
with things to do, Costa
Maya has plenty to offer,
whether an all-inclusive
beach break or something
adrenaline-pumping like
biking through the jungle.
Picture yourself soaking up
sun while lying on the white
sand of one of many worthy
beaches, with a drink or
good book, along with a
platter of fresh fish tacos.
Itching to get in the water?
Try kayaking or scuba diving
at the Mesoamerican Reef, an
important marine region
spanning nearly 600 miles.
Anglers can catch bonefish
or enormous tarpon (before
releasing them) as a fishing
master shows you the best
local waters and fly fishing
techniques.
Even though Costa Maya is
well known for palm-lined
shores, it also boasts
remarkably preserved Mayan
sites. You can even enjoy an
immersive, multi day-tour to
see three Mayan marvels,
Chacchoben, Tulum and
Chichen Itza. Or head to the
fort of Bacalar, home to
cannons of real-life pirates
of the Caribbean. For
something interactive, make
your own guacamole and
salsa—and then later learn
to dance salsa with your
friends and family.
Roatan
Roatán’s
diverse blend of cultures
and traditions is enough to
charm anyone. But its
mangrove forests, dense
jungles, and swaths of
white-sand beach will make
you want to stay forever.
Divers and snorkelers from
all over the globe flock to
the largest of Honduras’ Bay
Islands every year see to
the world’s second largest
barrier reef firsthand.
Roatán cruises provide
access to laid-back beach
towns and secluded shores.
On the Big Island, you can
mingle with monkeys and
“Jesus” lizards, snorkel
with stingrays, and zipline
through rainforest canopies.
If it’s culture you crave,
the island’s unique and
vibrant blend is more than
satisfying— made up of
ex-pat sun seekers,
Hondurans from the mainland,
descendants of European
settlers, and Garífuna,
whose Afro-Carib-Arawak
heritage still flavors
centuries-old communities
like Punta Gorda. |
