Once considered to be the "party boat" cruise line for the 20-something crowd, Carnival has been undergoing an image overhaul in recent years. Carnival's newer ships reflect a main-stream décor that is less glitsy then the older ships. However, Carnival's "Fun Ship" moniker lives on and there is plenty of fun to be had. On this cruise line you will find something for everyone of all ages. A great kids program "Camp Carnival" makes Carnival Cruises a favorite for families. Carnival puts a lot of work into their entertainment.

The Las Vegas-style shows produced by Carnival's own production company are as good as any at sea. You are sure to find many lounges and bars on a Carnival Cruises ship with a variety of quality musical acts. In fact, it is safe to say that you will never be bored on a Carnival ship, unless you choose to be. While the quality of food on Carnival has improved over the past few years, the portions and number of dinner courses have been reduced. Nevertheless, the options for dining are numerous and you will never go hungry on a Carnival Cruise. Generally, the food is average to good with one exception, the new Spirit class ships have an upscale restaurant that gets our Cruise Reviews Online Best Award for Alternate Dining. A fourth Conquest-class ship, Carnival Liberty, launched in 2005, which brought the fleet total to 21. Carnival Freedom, the fifth and final in the Conquest class recently launched in 2007. Carnival Splendor, slightly larger than Conquest-class vessels, is scheduled for a spring 2008 launch.

Superliners "Carnival Dream" and Carnival Magic" will enter service in October 2009 and June 2011, respectively. The 3,651-passenger ships will be the largest in the fleet.

And while there are two new-builds on the docket, Carnival has also committed $250 million to revamp its eight Fantasy-class vessels as part of its Evolutions of Fun initiative. The vessels will receive extensive upgrades, which include the addition of a aqua park with new, twisty waterslide; new carpets and furnishings throughout; improvements to the spa facilities; new kids clubs for the 12 to 14 set; mini-golf; flat-screen TV's in cabins; and more. Imagination and Inspiration were the first to received the upgrades. Fantasy is set to get a makeover in 2008, and the remaining five ships in 2009.

Plus, the line maintains its remaining "classic" ship, the nearly 20-year-old 46,052-ton Holiday, offering four- and five-night cruises out of Mobile, Alabama. As of April 14, its other aging ship, the 17-year-old 47,262-ton Celebration has been transferred to Iberocruceros, a joint venture between Carnival and Orizonia Corporacion, Spain's largest travel company.

The explosive expansion at Carnival Cruise Lines extends beyond just its ships. Parent company Carnival Corporation is the industry's biggest; other cruise lines in the family fold include Costa Cruises, Cunard Line, Holland America Line, Windstar Cruises and Seabourn. In a year-long effort, Carnival Corp. acquired P&O Princess (now named Carnival P.L.C.), which added the following companies to Carnival's portfolio: Princess Cruises, Swan Hellenic, P&O Cruises, Ocean Village, AIDA, A'ROSA and P&O Cruises Australia. Carnival also operates three riverboats on Europe's Danube River, Holland America Tours, and Princess Tours in Alaska and the Canadian Yukon. The stock is traded on both the New York and London Stock Exchanges. Carnival Corporation & P.L.C. is the only entity in the world to be included in both the S&P 500 and the FTSE 100 indices.

Carnival, founded in 1972 and headquartered in Miami, is the world's largest cruise line. The line's humble origins pigeonholed it as the cruise industry's version of a floating fraternity party for a long, long time. But that was yesterday, and while Carnival still commands a certain reputation for a flashy, neon-esque atmosphere -- and by no means skimps on elaborate lounges and discos -- its ships continue to evolve. The current generation of vessels have a more sedate design, better-suited to longer sailings.

In particular, Carnival's earned kudos for enhancing cuisine (never a high point in the old days), investing in a top-notch children's program, and expanding its itinerary offerings beyond its traditional Caribbean and Bahamas trips to regions like Alaska and Atlantic Canada. It offered its first European itineraries in 2002 (Carnival Legend sailed a few cruises after its inauguration in Harwich), and in 2005, Carnival Liberty spent a full season in Europe -- a first for the line. The line has also taken advantage of the fastest growing cruise segment in the United States, short vacations of three to five nights, and has deployed most of its Fantasy-class ships to those markets. Those ships are currently being redone to include updated bathrooms, children's areas, and all will offer water parks and adult serenity decks to compete with similar size vessels (more on Fantasy updates in fleet section).

Carnival is one of the world's most innovative cruise lines. In 1996, Carnival debuted the first passenger vessel to exceed 100,000 tons: Carnival Destiny. It was also the first major cruise line to build and operate a completely smoke-free cruise ship, Carnival Paradise. After nearly six years of butt-free sailings, the ship, now deployed in California, has gone to a "limited smoking" policy where guests can light up in the casino and just a couple of bars and lounges, but not in cabins nor most public spaces, even outside -- except for midship-only on the Lido deck.

Standard cabins now include robes, and the "Carnival Comfort Bed" sleep system features deluxe new plush mattresses, soft duvets, high quality linens and upgraded pillows. (Suite passengers have a "suite pillow menu" from which to select a specific pillow of their liking.)

But perhaps the biggest potential improvement is the quantum leap in culinary quality due in part to the new partnership with Michelin three-star chef, Georges Blanc, who is developing new menu entrees fleetwide and instituting training for Carnival chefs both in his Vonnas, France, restaurant and aboard the ships themselves.

Carnival also pioneered the concept of building regional drive-to ports, expanding its embarkation centers beyond Miami to places like New Orleans, Mobile, Jacksonville, Port Canaveral, Galveston, Norfolk, Charleston and New York. It has built a cruise port in Long Beach, California, to take advantage of sailings to the west coast of Mexico.

The company offers a vacation guarantee program that allows passengers unhappy with their cruise the chance to disembark at the first port and get a refund. They also provide senior discounts via AARP, as well as very successful weddings at sea and golf offerings.

About Circle "C"
The the ultimate spot where children ages 12-14 can cruise, chill, and connect to others. Cool activities, awesome facilities and lots of great new friends to add to their text-mail lists. The activities (think games, dance parties, outdoor movies and more) are supervised and created just for them. The friendly and experienced staff at Circle "C" wants to give your teens the best vacation experience possible. All activities are coordinated by a Circle "C" Director and dedicated to keeping the activities fun for our young guests.
Circle "C" Activities
Our playrooms offer a wide variety of games and equipment including, a video arcade and much more. Specialty items like air hockey, foosball, and karaoke (these are varied based on the class of ship) are also available. There are also special shore excursions, giving your kids the chance to explore our exciting destinations with a fun cruise director. Every night aboard a Carnival cruise our young guests can "mix and mingle" to the latest pop hits at our shipboard dance club.
Youth Staff
Carnival knows the importance of providing your children with top-notch care and supervision. All of our youth counselors have to meet important educational and professional requirements, as well as pass an extensive background check. They are professionally trained in CPR and are able to provide basic first aid for cuts and bruises. Additionally, should there be a medical emergency, all counselors are instructed to contact the parents immediately, as well as the shipboard infirmary.
Youth Experience : Camp CarnivalL (ages 2-11)
The year-round program includes a wide range of fun activities designed for three different age groups. All are supervised by staff who are either college educated in a related field or have professional child-care experience. As soon as children visit Camp Carnival, they'll meet the counselor assigned to their age group. While activities take place throughout the ship, smaller children enjoy many of their fun events in the Camp Carnival headquarters where there are games, arts & crafts, and even their own outdoor wading pool.

It's all in fun...Camp Carnival includes a wide range of activities designed for children in three different age groups - Toddlers, Juniors, and Intermediates. All children are supervised by staff who have experience and/or education in child-care. You'll see your child's excitement grow as soon as they meet their counselor and get assigned to their group. And when it's time to eat kids get their very own menus, featuring all their favorites like hot dogs, chicken nuggets, pizza, macaroni & cheese, hamburgers and more. Camp Carnival Directors are hired and trained to spark the interest of the children and get them involved.
Toddlers (2-5)
The age-appropriate activities at Camp Carnival are sure to delight your 2-5 year-olds. The smaller children enjoy many of their fun events in the Camp Carnival headquarters. From finger painting to cartoon time, arts and crafts to puppet shows, your little ones will have a blast! We also provide babysitting services in the evenings. So plan a "date night" or "quiet time" just for two. Toddlers do not have to be potty-trained in order to be part of Camp Carnival; parents simply need to provide the youth staff with diapers and toiletries for their child.
Juniors (6-8)
When our 6-8 year-old guests enter the bright and lively world of Camp Carnival they'll enjoy fun-filled and exciting activities like Spin Art, dodgeball, volcano making and more. Your pint-size cuties will also participate in a large variety of themed activities and games - including prize bingo, water colors, jewelry making, foosball, air hockey, and much more. Your kids will have so much fun, they won't even noticed their being supervised. They'll think of our counselors as just big kids.
Intermediates (9-11)
Your 9-11 year-olds will feel a flurry of excitement every time they step into Camp Carnival. Our young cruisers will play all day long - from dodgeball and pool parties to video games and scavenger hunts. They'll also be excited about the new friends they've made. Parents can take advantage of our evening "After Hours" services from 10 p.m. till 12 a.m. After 12 a.m., juniors and intermediate will join the younger cruisers for our Slumber Party service until 3 a.m.

Celebrations : Celebrations
You have big reasons. Birthdays. Anniversaries. Graduations. Job promotions. Things that make you feel like, well, celebrating.
